Have you ever wished you had your own plantation home? Lake O’ The Woods Plantation makes it possible for you to be the lady of the manor for your wedding. An impeccably restored mansion built in 1852, it is considered one of North Carolina’s best preserved plantations and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

A stunning combination of antebellum charm and modern luxury makes it the perfect site for a country wedding. Many of the original outbuildings still stand, and have also been restored. Used as guest cottages, they are fully equipped with modern conveniences and decorated in charming country style. The manor house itself has beautiful antique furniture.

Owner Trish Peters, will give you and your wedding rare personal attention. The plantation is a private residence, and while you are there, it will be your private residence. If you want furniture rearranged, it’s done. Forget your socks? Trish supplied socks to one forgetful groom (and ironed his shirt too). You become part of the family.

Every event at the Plantation is unique. “I don’t remember any two weddings being alike. We want people to take advantage of the different locations here,” says Trish. “We only hold 10 events a year here, so we have time to devote to your wedding. You’ll get lots of personal attention.”

There are many different packages available, for either the site only, or all-inclusive. You can stay for destination wedding North Carolina: Lake O’ The Woods Plantation the day or the weekend. They can accommodate up to 30 overnight guests, so what a great way to relax, get ready for the wedding and spend some quality time with family. Overnight guests will be treated to breakfast. For those who can’t be separated from technology, there’s satellite TV and high speed internet.

If your guests are traveling to attend the wedding, they can stay at the plantation or one of the many hotels and bed & breakfasts within an easy drive of Lake O’ The Woods.

There is a 22 x 66 foot pool, tennis courts, a fully equipped, air-conditioned gym, 80 acres of woods and pasture for long rambles, and ponds for fishing. Nearby, you can indulge in spa treatments, golf, horseback riding, boating, sailing or even sky-diving.

If you prefer indoor activities, there are museums, shopping, fine-dining, historical tours, and theaters within easy access to the plantation. You may enjoy it there so much that you’ll decide to skip the hassle of traveling and have your honeymoon there instead.

Just a little way over the Virginia-North Carolina line, it’s a convenient way to have a destination wedding that is convenient for guests. Just 90 minutes from Richmond, it’s a nice drive—if you prefer, you can fly into Raleigh.

There are lots of beautiful locations on the estate to hold the ceremony and reception. opportunities for unforgettable wedding photos are everywhere. Whether you choose to get married inside, outside, in a tent, by the outdoor fireplace, the front porch or pool, it will all be perfect.

Trish will work with you and tailor every detail to your specifications. She has an extensive vendor list that includes everything from a minister to a florist or DJ. If you want it, she will find a way to make it happen. They can accommodate 340 people for a buffet or 120 seated for a plated meal, so there is ample space.

Secluded and quiet, it transports you to an earlier, more gracious era. It is Trish’s chief desire that you feel at home. Watch the game on the big screen TV, relax by the pool, play tennis. It has the amenities of a mini resort with the privacy of your own home. What could be more perfect than that during this hectic time?
